Pop! Con 2015
Special print that I did for this year's show. I composed the image in photoshop from various photos I found online. Then printed those out on bristol board and inked directly on the blue line photographs.

It's my great privilege to be accepted into CBR's "The Line it is Drawn". Every week I get to draw a new piece based on the suggestions of fans.

It was a very weird experience joining the group. The night before Brian Cronin posted an open call for "The Line" I thought to myself, "How does one join the Line is Drawn?" When I saw that they were taking applications I figured it might not hurt to ask about my work. After sending Brian a link to my DeviantArt page I got an encouraging email from Brian suggesting that I go ahead and create a new piece to apply for position.

So I came up with the Conan meets Heman illustration and sent it along. I was having a busy month and I wasn't even sure if it would be worth the time to create the artwork. I thought at the very least there would be some resell value in it if I wasn't accepted. Knowing the quality of the artwork produced I imagined the competition would be fierce. To my shock and surprise I received the following message "Hey David, Welcome, you got picked!" two days before Christmas. It was a real gift and it was an amazing high being accepted as professional peer for the first time in my life.

Every week is a challenge. It's a blast seeing the new artwork created by the "Liners" every Friday morning. It's like Christmas every week! They encourage me to produce the best work I can possibly create and that is a good thing!

Thanks a lot, man. The initial response kinda bummed me out.

Great work this week btw. It really cracked one of my friends up when he saw it...though he initially thought it was a Dune reference. The guy doesn't know comics that well.

 Take care.

well I mean "Spice" could lend itself to a DUNE reference.
